Procreation

They mate only when their cycle comes around.

The fur in the abdominal area extrudes a sticky substance from the tip which is absorbed at the base.

The fur thickens, becoming bristly.

The mating pair “stick” together, stimulating the bristly fur.

The substance mixes and then is reabsorbed into their skin, almost like a pollination process.

Either or both may get pregnant as a result of the mating process; there is neither male nor female.

They are not sexually attracted to one that is genetically close.

There is a cavity in the groin area where the babies mature.

Babies are “excreted” encased in a pod sack from which they must break free.
